Relief is on the way for residents in Durban's southern region, after eThekwini completed repairs to the Wiggins High Pressure Main, fixing four leaks on the pipeline.
Water is finally on its way back to thousands of homes, businesses and schools south of Durban.
The eThekwini Municipality says repairs to the damaged Wiggins High Pressure Main have been completed, after teams worked through the night fixing four leaks on the 750-millimetre pipeline.
The City says water has already begun flowing to affected reservoirs, after officials allowed time for the repairs to set.
However, residents have been warned that supply won't return immediately.
Water supply to return gradually
Reservoirs first need time to refill after days of outages, before water reaches their homes.
Communities affected include the Bluff, Wentworth, Austerville, Woodlands, Montclair, Umbilo, Glenwood, Cato Manor and Bellair.
The municipality says reservoir levels and water demand will continue to be monitored as the system gradually recovers.
Water tankers will remain available where needed.
