South Africa’s Lotto is beginning to develop its first statistical trends since Sizekhaya took over as National Lottery operator on 1 June 2026.
While just 18 Lotto draws have taken place under the new operator – far too few to indicate any meaningful long-term patterns – some numbers have already emerged as the most frequently drawn, while others are yet to appear.

The hottest Lotto numbers so far
Five numbers have each been drawn four times since the start of the Sizekhaya era, making them the current “hot” numbers:
At the opposite end of the spectrum, six numbers remain “cold”, having not been drawn once in the first 18 draws:
Although some players enjoy tracking these trends or choosing numbers they believe are “due”, statisticians caution that past results have no influence on future draws.
Every draw starts from scratch
Each Lotto draw is an independent event, meaning every one of the 52 balls has exactly the same chance of being selected every time the machine is activated.
The fact that numbers such as 8 or 20 have appeared several times does not make them more likely to be drawn again, while numbers like 3 or 45 are not any more likely simply because they have yet to appear.
With 52 numbers in the Lotto pool and around 20 million possible six-number combinations, every combination carries identical odds in every draw, regardless of previous results.
For many players, following hot and cold numbers adds another layer of interest to the game, but they remain a snapshot of what has happened rather than a guide to what will happen next.
