Two suspects have been arrested in Booysens for possession of suspected stolen copper sheets valued at R16 million.
The suspects, aged 43, were nabbed by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police on Thursday following an intelligence-driven operation.
Preliminary investigation indicates that copper sheets were reported stolen in Durban.
"The information led the officers to the location of the truck transporting the stolen copper at a warehouse situated at the corner of Treu and Vlak Streets in Booysens," said Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
"Upon arrival at the warehouse, the officers searched the premises. During which they recovered suspected stolen copper sheets inside two trucks parked inside the yard of the warehouse," Fihla said.
The two Chinese men were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and are expected to appear in court soon.
