Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has called up veteran utility forward Deon Fourie for the four-Test series against New Zealand kicking off this month, SA Rugby announced on Monday.
The 39-year-old Fourie, who is a loose forward and hooker, is returning to the game following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.
His last Test for the Springboks was the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final against New Zealand in Paris, which the South Africans won 12-11.
The Rugby World Cup-winner scored a try against the All Blacks on Friday in the visitors' tour opening win over local franchise Stormers.
The Test series kicks off on August 22.
The Springboks travelled home back from Argentina in two groups on Sunday and Monday after a 17-10 victory against the Pumas.
