KwaZulu-Natal is bracing for another cold snap next week as a powerful cold front is expected to bring snow, heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas. The South African Weather Service has warned of possible localised flooding, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions from Monday.

Another cold snap is heading to KwaZulu-Natal.

Snow, heavy rain, and strong winds are on the way, as another icy blast sweeps across the country next week.

The South African Weather Service says the system is expected to make landfall over the Western Cape and Northern Cape on Sunday before moving east.

Snow forecast for KZN mountainous region

Senior forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says by Monday, KZN is expected to experience cold to very cold conditions, with widespread rain and showers, and snow forecast over the province's mountainous areas.

"The main impacts will include localised flooding of low-lying areas, roads, bridges, and informal settlements due to persistent rainfall."

"Strong and damaging winds may cause fallen trees, roof damage, power interruptions, and dangerous driving conditions. Along the coastal line, damaging waves and rough seas will pose a risk to small vessels and coastal activities.

"The very cold temperatures may affect vulnerable communities, livestock, while snowfall over mountain passes."
