The 23-year-old alleged gang member linked to the Reiger Park murder of four people, including two officers, is expected back in court on the 25th of this month.

Cheslin Collins made his first appearance in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The State has linked Collins to the deadly ambush of police anti-gang unit members - Constables Tlomatsana and Sibeko - and two women.

He was arrested following a multi-disciplinary tracing operation that led to the recovery of two R5 rifles at KwaDukathole Informal Settlement in Germiston over the past weekend.

“Collins made his first court appearance after being charged with four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

“The charges arise from a fatal shooting that allegedly occurred on 07 August 2026 in Reiger Park, Boksburg, during which Roleen Lessing, Jayden Magerman, Constable Tomatsane, and Constable Sibeko were fatally shot,” said the National Prosecuting Authority's Magaboke Mohlatlole.

The State is alleging that the two officers were responding to reports of gunfire in the area when they came under attack.

In addition, it's alleged that the accused tried to kill another victim during the incident, and robbed the two deceased police officers of their service rifles.
