The UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has officially named Bongani Baloyi as its mayoral candidate for the City of Johannesburg. This announcement was made during a media briefing on August 28 in Umhlanga, Durban. Baloyi's political trajectory has seen him serve as a mayor for Midvaal while affiliated with the Democratic Alliance (DA), before transitioning to ActionSA, where he led the Gauteng wing.
After founding his own political party, Xiluva, and contesting the recent general elections, Baloyi joined the MK Party, which is led by Jacob Zuma.
