Cape Point remains one of Cape Town’s – and South Africa’s – most popular attractions, but visitors should take note of the different entrance fees depending on their nationality.
According to the current tariff, which is valid until 31 October 2026, South African adults pay R110 to enter Cape Point, while children aged between two and 12 pay R55.
Visitors from other Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries pay R225 for adults and R115 for children.
For international visitors, the standard entrance fee is R515 for adults and R250 for children.
South Africans must provide identification, a driver’s licence or passport to qualify for the local rate.
The famous Flying Dutchman funicular, which takes visitors towards the lighthouse and offers panoramic views of the surrounding coastline, is charged separately.
A return ticket costs R115 for adults and R60 for children and South African pensioners. One-way tickets cost R100 for adults and R52 for children and pensioners.
However, visitors planning a trip during August 2026 should be aware that the Flying Dutchman is temporarily closed for planned maintenance from 20 July to 31 August 2026.
Visitors can still access the lighthouse area on foot during the closure.
During the April-to-September period, Cape Point’s entry hours are 07:00 to 17:00, with visitors required to exit by sunset.
The funicular operates from 09:00 to 17:00, while the Two Oceans Restaurant, Food Shop and gift stores have their own operating hours.
The current Cape Point tariffs will remain in place until 31 October 2026, with annual price increases taking effect on 1 November.
