After more than a decade of delays and negotiations, eThekwini’s GO! Durban public transport service is slated to officially launch in December 2026. Mayor Cyril Xaba announced this much-anticipated development during a recent media briefing, revealing that the City has reached crucial agreements with taxi and bus operators on vital aspects including fleet ownership, contracts, compensation, and employment strategies.
The municipal investment in the GO! Durban programme has surpassed R9.7 billion, reflecting the city's commitment to enhancing public transport infrastructure despite the significant setbacks faced over the years.
