Du Preez's return comes as part of Chiefs’ strategy to attract player Langelihle Phili to their squad. During his first spell with Stellies, Du Preez made significant contributions over six seasons before moving to Chiefs four years ago.
Although he made 98 appearances with the Chiefs, most of them came in his early tenure, and he was notably left behind during the team's recent pre-season camp in Spain.
