JOHANNESBURG - The local government election date has been proclaimed.
And today, the Democratic Alliance is launching its election manifesto.
The party will hold a rally in Newtown, Johannesburg.
Pundits say it's a declaration of its intention to govern the City after the elections.
The manifesto launch will also be Geordin Hill-Lewis's first since taking over as party leader.
Thousands of party faithful are expected to attend as Helen Zille runs for position of Joburg Mayor.
