Travellers heading to Zimbabwe will soon have another flight option, with Airlink announcing a new three-times-weekly service between Johannesburg’s Lanseria International Airport and Harare.
The route will launch later this year, marking the first-ever scheduled airline service between the privately owned airport in north-west Johannesburg and Zimbabwe’s capital.
Bookings for the new route are now open.
A new option for travellers to Harare
The new service gives passengers an alternative to flying through O.R. Tambo International Airport, offering a more convenient departure point for many travellers living and working in western Gauteng and North West.
It will also be Airlink‘s first scheduled service from Lanseria, further expanding its regional network.
Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht said the Johannesburg-Harare route remains one of the busiest in Southern Africa.
According to the airline, the route averaged around 60 000 seats per month during 2025, with a significant share of passengers coming from areas closer to Lanseria.
The airline said the new flights will complement, rather than replace, its existing Harare services from O.R. Tambo.
Flights will take off from 15 November 2026, and will operate as follows:
The route will be operated with an Embraer E190 aircraft, offering 98 seats, including 6 Business Class and 92 Economy.
Airlink said the aircraft features only window and aisle seats, meaning there are no middle seats on board.
Passengers can also expect complimentary meals and refreshments during the flight.
The new route strengthens Airlink’s regional offering while giving travellers another convenient gateway between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
