Malusi Mbokazi Celebrates a Decade of Solo Music with Live Show

The gospel star marks 10 years on his own with a special recording featuring top artists.

Gospel singer Malusi Mbokazi is poised to celebrate a significant milestone in his career, marking 10 years as a solo artist. To commemorate this occasion, he will host his first live recording show titled "The Revival with Malusi Mbokazi" on September 5, 2026, at the Durban ICC.

The event is set to showcase Mbokazi's musical journey and will feature an impressive lineup of artists, including Khaya Mthethwa, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Sbu Noah, Paradise Mdlalose, Sneziey Msomi, and Ntokozo Ngongoma. "I have been in the music industry for more than 20 years, but this is a celebration of 10 years as a solo artist," Malusi told TshisaLIVE. He has handpicked these artists, citing their performances and vocal quality as essential elements for his vision at the concert. "I want people to come and enjoy music, but also come to heal," he added.

Malusi rose to fame as the lead singer of the popular gospel group Abanqobi in 2001, known for hit songs such as "Likude Ikhaya" and "Simtholile Umesiya." His journey took a challenging turn in 2014 when he faced a health scare that threatened to end his singing career. "I experienced something with my voice and the doctors said I would not sing again. That experience made me decide I needed to do my own album and pursue my solo career," he shared.

Since launching his solo career in 2015, Malusi has focused on healing through his music. He emphasized the emotional power of his songs, particularly "Ngize Nkosi," sharing a heartfelt story about a man who chose life after hearing the track. "That showed me music can heal and save someone. Music healed me, and it can help others too," he reflected.

This upcoming live recording is not just a celebration of his decade in solo artistry; it also reflects Malusi's transformative journey over the years. The event promises to be a significant occasion for both him and his audience, uniting them through the healing power of music. With a diverse lineup and Malusi's inspiring story, the night is expected to resonate deeply with attendees, making it a memorable celebration of talent and resilience.
