Lamiez Holworthy Shares Health Scare After Cyst Burst
The media personality opens up about her emergency surgery and the importance of prioritising health.
DJ and media personality Lamiez Holworthy recently shared her harrowing health experience after undergoing emergency surgery due to a burst cyst on National Women's Day. In an emotional revelation, Lamiez posted heartfelt videos from her hospital bed, where she was joined by family members, including her father, Chicco Twala, and her husband, rapper Khuli Chana.
In her post, Lamiez explained her struggle with recurring ovarian cysts and endometriosis, stating that she had previously been advised by her doctor to schedule the emergency procedure. However, she had chosen to postpone the operation to honour her work commitments. Reflecting on the timing of her health crisis, she remarked, "It's crazy how God chose National Women's Day to not only remind me that I am a woman but that I am human too and that my health should always come first."
As speculation surrounded the reasons for her surgery, Lamiez took the opportunity to address cyberbullying, calling out the issue in light of her health ordeal. "Please tag your neighbourhood bully because now more than ever, the suicide rate has gone higher... I'm tired! Go to therapy and heal because we are tired of being bled on," she wrote.
The circumstances surrounding her surgery were alarming, as Lamiez noted that a cyst had grown larger than her womb before it burst. This occurred just minutes away from a scheduled event in Brits, prompting an urgent trip to the hospital. "I was rushed back to the emergency room because I had internal bleeding. Next thing I'm being told that I lost a lot of blood and that I'd need a blood transfusion, which freaked me out," she recounted, expressing her feelings of defeat and frustration.
Emphasising the high stakes of her health complication, Lamiez urged her followers, especially women, to pay attention to any unusual bodily signals. "Ladies, if you experience abnormal periods or back pains, please visit your nearest doctor. I nearly lost my life because I ignored mine and chose to put work first," she advised.
Holworthy's experience serves as a poignant reminder of the need to prioritise health over professional obligations, particularly for women facing societal pressures. In this vulnerable moment, she not only shed light on her health challenges but also reignited conversation about the impacts of mental health and self-care.
Ultimately, Lamiez Holworthy's journey underscores the vital importance of listening to one's body and seeking help when necessary, especially in an industry often characterized by demanding schedules and high expectations. Her candid reflections resonate with many who have faced similar challenges, encouraging a broader dialogue about health and well-being in the face of adversity.
